Automate procurement for make to stock items

Automating procurement for make to stock items is achieved through reordering rules. A reordering rule enables you to set up a minimum stock level for each product and automatically generates a request for quotation (Draft PO) when the stock level falls below the minimum threshold. The draft POs can be accessed using the Purchase -> Request for quotation menu. You can also define separate reordering rules / minimum stock levels for products based on their stock or warehouse location.

Automate procurement for made to order items

To automate procurement for made to order items, simply enable the Buy and Replenish on Order(MTO) routes in the Product form under the Inventory tab. A draft PO will be generated as soon as there is a demand for the item. The draft POs can be accessed using the Purchase -> Request for quotation menu.
